Re: Book of Enoch
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 2:05 AMWell...if my memory is correct and you will probably find better information when you look it up, it is like this. Enoch is the one biblical figure who isn't described in the bible as being physically dead. It says that he went to heaven. From this text people think that he is still alive and is in heaven. As such he also has attained certain wisdom.
When Dee and Kelly were busy with scrying they got in contact with beings. Because the beings were ( supposedly ) from heaven and possesed a certain wisdom Dee revered to the beings as coming from the same source of Enoch. Thus calling the language which was communicated: Enochian. -

Re: Book of Enoch
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 11:50 PMSome national religions have the Book of Enoch as official within their Bilble, such as the Magog. The Book of Enoch speaks of the Sheep God and is essentially an appendix to the Apocalypse. It is peculiar that the Magog would include it and the protestant do not. The Russians are part to the Magog tribe. -

Re: Book of Enoch
Sat, August 2, 2008 - 9:48 PMThe story of Enoch in included in the Pearl of Great Price, one of the LDS scripture . . . it contains the Books of Moses and Abraham, which essentially are expanded or lease altered versions of the Book of Genesis, covering the creation through the Flood . . . the Bible simply states that Enoch walked with God and was no more . . . but the PGP describes in detail his call to serve and those he gathered, and just before the flood Enoch and his entire group were taken up into Heaven . . .
Whatever your personal thoughts may be about the Mormons, the Pearl of Great Price is worth reading . . . anyone with scriptural knowledge can easily see the esoteric messages . . . in particular I find it interesting that both book are written in 1st person, as if God is speaking to his peers or co creators . . . it is not cleaned up, cut and edited for Christian audiences, and clearly speaks of the ancient ways . . .

Re: Book of Enoch
Sat, August 2, 2008 - 8:49 AMSort of. Dee was trying to rediscover wisdom lost from the time of Enoch, such as the language he used to speak with the angels, but he was either not aware of or did not possess any of the books of Enoch around at the time (they were fairly obscure and scarce).
For more on this, I highly recommend "John Dee's Occultism", by Gyorgy E Szonyi. It goes deeper into Dee's sources and examines his influences.
(I reviewed it recently for Plutonica.net [plutonica.net/2008/07/30/...y-e-szonyi/] if you want to read more about it first.) -

Re: Book of Enoch
Sun, August 10, 2008 - 5:57 PMAccording to Kabbalists in the middle ages, Enoch was taken up to heaven and became Metatron the angel (Elijah became Sandalphon, Metatron's twin!).
According to Islam, he is the apostle/prophet Idris who brought mankind things like mathematics and astronomy before Noah. -

Re: Book of Enoch
Fri, August 29, 2008 - 7:21 AMThanks for the Idris input. So Dee was on the right track after all. Of course everything orderly is liberating, as the personal devil is bad at concentration and mathematics. I did know about 314 Metatron but knew not of Elijah - Sandolphon tradition. Any relevant sources?
